Religion-Politics & Sex

POLITICS-RELIGION & SEX
9/30/2009 4:59:58 AM

That’s a loaded subject!

Let me start with RELIGION.

Last night Sally was invited to a farewell supper for our pastor. We met at the Thomas sisters’ home. Spouses are invited also.

Pastor Meggan’s last day as Pastor will be Oct 4th, 2009. Our church’s web address is http://www.oslctopeka.org

We will miss her and the family very much.

I asked her what she had plans for her future. She answered that her plate is empty. I guess that means no plans.

I made an observation that our last interim pastor just died. I’m sure there’s an opening for ELCA interim pastors. We laughed over my statement. It’s fun to be with friends.

While we’re speaking of religions, I am not an ELCA Lutheran. I’m an AFLC Lutheran. My membership and finances go to Grace Lutheran Bruce SD.

Long story.

But to make a long story short, I do not like the direction the ELCA is taking. The AFLC is more to my traditional upbringing. I still attend church at OSLC. I’m a hypocrite .. J

Guess that’s about it for today.

Post this to:

I’ll write about politics & sex at another time.

Charlie (1998-2009)

CHARLIE (1998-2009)
9/24/2009 5:53:17 AM

Charlie HoltREm ,(another story), our beloved pet, died yesterday in our backyard at 5112 ½ SW 33rd ST Topeka KS 66614

Charlie was born 3/1/98 somewhere. Gage Animal Hospital has our pet records for all our pets since 1974.

His friends, Myron, Sally Holter, survive Charlie. His best friend Mark Holter & our son, was able to pay a final visit the night before his demise.

Charlie wanted to die, he told me. I looked in his eyes and they were longing to see Jesus. When I petted our best friend, he would not wag his tail. We made him comfortable. I for one would like to see all my pets in heaven someday.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM today. All are welcome to pay their respects.

His neighbor, OREO, a male black lab, preceded Charlie in death.
Other pets in our married lives have been:

BUFFY – a FEMALE black lab – 2006 (Charlie’s playmate)
BUD – another dear friend of us (Charlie’s playmate)
LADDY – died in our garage (late 90’s)
ROVER – died in our back yard while we were on vacation (80’s etc)
SAM – was stolen from our car while on a trip to Bruce SD (70’s)
FRITZ – our 1st dog. (since 1969)

An email can be sent to ourpets@myownfaith2.com to share your pet stories, pictures, videos, etc.

This blog will now be loaded to www.myownfaith2.com/blog

RIP Charlie

Signed,

Your best friend

Charlie (our pet)

LIFE/DEATH/CHARLIE
9/23/2009 3:01:54 AM

Our beloved Charlie, our Lapa apso (sp?) , dog of many years is dying. I made a special trip to pick up our son ,Mark, to pay his final respects. We are saddened. Please note the time in this blog. Charlie wants to die. I grew up on a farm, and I know how animals behave on their last days. They, along with us humans, just want to be left alone on our last days. I would be the same. I looked for Charlie yesterday and he was in the garden next to our string beans. I will make a place for him in our garden. Just don’t tell our government. They’ll probably want to take that freedom to choose our pets burial also.

I got to thinking about ALL the pets in our lives.

My 1st pet was Tyke. I wrote about Tyke earlier. I was around 4 or 5 and Tyke and I were farm friends. We once went looking for turtle eggs together. Details on an earlier version in www.myownfaith2.com/blog

We went through many pets back then, including cats. I remember a few stories back then. One of our pets was a black lab named Smokey. He was our hunting dog. I don’t hunt. But I would block the corn rows while my older brothers and our Minneapolis friends would hunt. Smokey was my responsibility to keep under leash until the birds were flushed. It was a dirty job but somebody had to do it.

Smokey was once left in the trunk of our car for days. I believe brother Dale forgot him in there from one of there many hunting expeditions. I was NOT responsible. Smokey was OK, just hungry and thirsty.

Our 1st dog in our marriage was Fritz. Fritz was a German Shepard. He lived with us in our little cracker box rental house in Omaha NE.
I had just become honorably discharged from the Air Force. We had Fritz for maybe a couple years. Once we took Fritz with us to Bruce SD. Herman and Lorraine fell in love with the dog and wanted Fritz. We gave them our pet, if I remember correctly.

These and other pets in my short life of 64 years have many fond memories.

I will check on Charlie later today.

I have become very attached to my pets. They’re family to me.

Bye bye Charlie .. see you in heaven (I hope)

Signed,

Your faithful friend,

HEY!.. I’M A WHITE GUY, OK?

Come on President Carter! Get back to grabbing a hammer and do something more worthwhile!

Yesterday, I dropped by the bowling alley to try to have a conversation with my estranged son. John is NOT bowling this year. Greg informed me that it’s his back. OH WELL
My goal is to be able to scratch off my bucket list. Details on www.myownfaith2.com/bucket

RIP Alice Nabazas also. I signed her guest book in http://cjonline.com also.
My brother Wes had his 2nd hip replaced. I heard that the medical folks placed him in ICU as apparently he had other issues, like his heart.
Welcome to our heart diseased world brother Wes. The four of us brothers have all had heart issues. I’ll have our church here in Topeka ADD Wesley Holter to our email prayer list too. Hang in there brother!

Ask me about www.myownfaith2.com too

IT'S MONDAY

IT’S MONDAY:
9/14/2009 4:21:25 AM

Yes indeed, it’s Monday for all you workers. And thank you for working. Because of you, I am able to stay retired. How does that make you feel?

This last week for me has been quite eventful. I have written about my journey in my previous writings, so I’ll NOT go through that again. I look forward , not backward.

I ran into a reliv distributor while wandering around the state fair. We knew some common distributors, like the Blazics. I was not about to tell her my relationship with them or my immediate upline. BAD story. RELIV is a wonderful business. All one needs to know about RELIV is to ask. Ask me about RELIV.

Last Saturday was the “million mobster” march in DC. If it weren’t for my commitments here at home, I’d have loved to be a participant.

We sang a fun song yesterday at rally day at our church.

Labor Day

LABOR DAY:
9/7/2009 5:17:26 AM

I’M TRYING TO REMEMBER. What did I do on Labor Day when I was growing up? I don’t recall! Labor Day was meant just that .. Labor.

We did our normal day’s routine. I don’t remember, but I think our culture back then treated Labor Day like just any other day.

So with that in mind, I’m going to treat today just like any other day for my retired schedule.

The only difference is Sally will be home with me all day.

WOW! Maybe she can help around the house.

Guess I’ll get my 2nd cup of coffee and post this somewhere on our web.

My Health

HEALTH CONCERNS .. (mine)

9/4/2009 5:03:45 AM

I’m OK

Yesterday I had my body checked over by www.lifelinescreening.com

I recommend anyone who might be concerned about their health to take this test.

I’ll not know the results for three weeks. If there was something serious, like a stroke potential, I would have been told immediately. No one seemed to be alarmed.

Thanks everyone for your POSITIVE email replies. NO THANKS to you naysayers.

I will now post this to my blog.

The Lord's Prayer & laptop prayer

THE LORD’S PRAYER

2 September 2009

Our Father, which art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom
And the power and the glory
Forever and ever
AMEN

MY LAPTOP PRAYER:

My laptop, which is in front of me
DELL is thy name

This computer will come
And is NOT dumb

On ones lap or anywhere

Give this ID-10-T (idiot) .. me, this day my daily good emails
And deliver me from spam.

For viruses, spams, etc. are BAD,
But the web on a whole is MORE than a FAD.

For the Internet is here to stay
Until our BO prez decides to send it away.

Signed,

myron@myownfaith2.com

Volunteerism

VOLUNTEERISM:

9/2/2009 4:48:32 AM

Being a volunteer is an AMERICAN thing to do.

I have just volunteered to work at a booth at the Kansas State Fair this year in Hutchinson KS.

The volunteer coordinator called me last night and I signed up, with Sally’s permission.

Currently, there’s a movement going on in our country called the Tea Party Express. These AMERICANS are all volunteers. These volunteers are going to end up in Washington DC protesting our BO administration.

Here is my message to our BO President:

“PLEASE MR. PRESIDENT, PAY ATTENTION TO THESE VOLUNTEERS AND REPLY ACCORDINGLY.”

These signs that the folks have made are not to be ignored.

Now if you’ll all excuse me, I’ve got some volunteering work to do.
