Being Neighborly

We live on the side of a hill here in Topeka KS. If you were to do a google search, merely plug in our address and zero in the area I’m speaking.

Well, after taking Mark home and working out at the Y downtown, I was barely able to get my 95” Toyota into our driveway.

I see in front of me a vehicle trying to get home. It’s my neighbor on Skyline. So we try to get the vehicle going uphill. Didn’t work.

My neighbors’ vehicle is currently parked in our driveway. Being neighborly is what Jesus would expect from each of us.

My annual fowl feeding at 6th & GAGE will have to wait.

Sally was able to film our grandchild’s Christmas 2009. I am currently not ready to view the digital.

Our family therapy continues. I am not optimistic.

12/26/2009 6:18:34 AM

It’s Saturday Morning and time for my weAkly/weekly.

Here’s hoping everyone watching this video had a good time with your family.

Sally, Mark & myself spent Christmas right here @ home.

About the only trip we made was to pick up our son and go to Christmas Eve service @ 5:00 PM. Churches services throughout the Midwest have been canceling. Our church, OSLC, is no exception. The attendance was sparse.

Watch my previous blogs to get a better understanding about the true meaning of Christmas. I have many posts on the web.

Love you Madeline.

12/25/2009 5:49:20 AM

I’m NOT dreaming of a White Christmas, I’m living it.

That is the theme of my blog this morning.

We’re in a blizzard like situation here at 5112 SW 33rd St
Sally, Mark, Julie S. & myself were able to attend church last night though.
The TV got the message wrong and the attendance was sparse but we made the 5:00 PM service. The 10:00 PM service was cancelled.

So I guess we’ll just stay home.

My Christmas Memories

12/24/2009 5:45:18 AM

I had to do a 30 second video of Madeline’s Christmas presents. Sally wrapped up the presents in front of me last night. She informed me that ONE of the presents were from her Grandpa-My. J

I’ll help load the VAN and then head for 6th & Gage. The geese & ducks need me.

I used to like Christmas. I don’t anymore.

Perhaps one of my most favorite Christmas times were during my formidable years.
I grew up on a farm NE of Bruce SD

Some of my previous writings were who the players in my life were.

A “normal” Christmas for me follows:

On Dec 24th , we, my family, would prepare for the birth of Jesus. This may sound weird, but we REALLY did have the birth of Jesus as the center of our lives.

I would do the chores, feeding the animals, etc. and my job was to get some ice to make ice cream. So I would kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.

The cattle needed to drink water from the Sioux river. The silage was also in the same area. So I would walk down to the river with an axe, fork & an ice bucket.

I would then open the river for the cattle, place the ice in the bucket and head back to the farm, some ¼ mile east of the river.

Mom would make the homemade ice cream. My job was to hand cranking the ice cream to perfection. It was always rewarding to open the lid and slurp the fins clean. Those were fun days! Later DAD purchased a motorized maker, making ice cream less fun.

Later on towards evening, the BIG moment would arrive!

Am I referring to Santa? .. NO !

After chores, we would eat. My parents, mainly MOM, would make fun Norwegian food. I even liked Lutefisk, still do.

Later on my uncle John and Susie Bergh would come over from Volga, SD.

Of course, this KID was chomping at the bits to open presents.

But first we would have our Christian traditions.

We would all gather together, and the kids would have to recite any Christmas program parts we might have had. I attended a one room school all during my childhood and Mrs. Bombeck would have us do the Christmas school program. One year I think I was a Shepard. Of course with only 8 kids or so, there was NOT that many choices.

So us kids would have to recite our parts to the “fam.”

Then we would ALL sing various Christmas songs. We had no piano or musical instruments in our possessions, so we all sang memory. That was FUN!

Singing Silent night was my favorite, still is.

So WHEN are we going to open presents? I’m getting impatient!

Next we would have to read the Bible.

Uncle John would read the Gospel of Luke to us. Us kids would know the story by heart. This kid wanted to open presents. Who cares about some kid being born in a manger story?! There are presents under the Charlie Brown tree

Uncle John (John Holter’s namesake) Bergh would lead us in prayer.

Can we open presents now?

One year my sisters boxed up a present for me. It was a big truck.

We had no money for such expensive presents.

I remember my mother once asking me if it would be all right if there was not a whole lot of presents under the tree this year. I found out later that DAD had just purchased a ¼ section of land and we were poor. I could care less.

My childhood Christmas days were one of true joy!

I yearn to go back to those days.

I guess I’ll post this to our web.

The fowls are going to be having a visit.

I AM not invited to witness my only grand child’s Christmas again this year… Third annual.

I'm OK

I’m OK

I’m OK .. at least for now.

Sally drove me to see a “specialist” yesterday to see what’s wrong with me.

The ENT building is located right next to a funeral home, so I guess I’m good to go.

Anyway, the balance tester made me dizzy. I’m still suffering as I write this.

They ruled out my inner ear being the problem.

The next test will be my brain.

I’m reminded of the movie “The wizard of OZ”. .. “If I only had a brain.”

I’ll be giving my brain to the scarecrow. At least there’s a funeral home close by.

The best part about yesterday was I FINALLY got my 1st cup of coffee afterwards.

Dizziness, imbalance & Headaches

12/22/2009 5:56:23 AM

Maybe, just maybe some specialist might be able to tell me what’s wrong.

You see, I’ve been suffering from dizziness, imbalance and headaches. I’m sick of feeling sick!

Sally will be driving me to this AM.

Wish me well.

Maybe even a prayer or two might help.

To my atheist friends, forget it, OK?

Saturday, December 19, 2009

Good Morning to all you bloggers out there in cyber space.. Merry Christmas too!
Now send me to jail.

I’m a Christian Conservative Blogger.

Anyway, enjoy your Christmas. Remember to honor Jesus’ birth.

I’ll be feeding the fowls on Dec 25th. Sally & Mark will be enjoying Christmas with my estranged son and his family.

Remember, it is better to give than to receive.

My Christmas 2009

videoThe theme of this video is, "It's better to give than to receive"

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

12/16/2009 7:09:22 AM

Yesterday was an interesting day.

I get up. I do my “thing”. I turn on my computer. I turn on my TV. I get some coffee.

Have I said the word “I” enough? How’s that for being self centered? J

So anyway, after doing all these mundane things, it’s time to do fun things.

Sally has written her annual Christmas letter. Being the computer geek that I am, The letter has been posted on our web. The next function is to stuff envelopes. I can do that.

Now that the Christmas season is rapidly approaching, we’re finding many more ADS in the paper. One of the Christmas purchases to myself from myself is a new tool chest. The 95’ Toyota could not fit the BIG box, so the 73’ Ford (3/4) Truck (My hearse) was put into action. Mission accomplished!

It’s wonderful to be DEBT FREE! Thanks Dave!

So it’s back to stuffing envelopes and nursing my illness.

Treating & Preventing imbalance & Dizziness by Paul Silovsky, PT is my next read.

I’m getting tired of being drunk like .. and I don’t even drink.

Maybe I should start drinking.

Privacy in the Workforce

12/15/2009 5:40:06 AM

My daily retired schedule follows:

1) Get up
2) Do my duties (you know what I mean)
3) Get coffee
4) Prick my diabetic finger
5) Turn on my computer
6) Decide what I can blog about today.

So I get to #6 on my checklist and see on FOX and Friends a segment called

and it brought back memories of my career with the Postal Service.

From what I heard on TV, there’s a company or someone who is going to federal court over “texting” while on the job.

This news segment immediately brought back some unpleasant memories of my last days working for the Post Office.

I was a computer systems operator for the USPS here in Topeka KS. I worked as a union employee from Nov 1973-Mar 2001

My job was to run a computer.

On or about the last year, year ½ I was being harassed.

The management made my working life as miserable as possible. I used to be called in to the head office for the most frivol ice of things.

Once I got called into the head office because I didn’t pick up a supervisors interoffice mail. This supervisor was playing a game and called my supervisor to I missed his inbox.

These and other useless meetings finally got my ire. I started writing everything down.

This harassment finally got so bad that I finally had a visit with my personal physician.

To make a long story short, I was on sick leave for 45 days. I reported back to work after my 45 days off and worked for another week.

When I got back from sick leave, there was a letter to me stating that I was NOT to be on any Postal Service computers. What’s with that? My job was to be a computer systems operator!

So I proceed to take some more action. I write to all the government agencies I can find.

I finally get a call from the OPM in DC. The person on the other end of the phone wants to make a deal. He stated that if I would sign this legal agreement to NOT get on any Postal Service computers, I could finish my career on sick leave.

What a deal! You mean to say that this computer systems operator is NOT allowed to do his job?
That was the offer.

So I finished my last seven months on sick leave.

I was using the Postal Service computers to do my job.

The managers at the Postal Service wanted me out of there.

I was told by many of my co-workers that I could have filed a discrimination complaint for lots of $$$. I chose to quietly retire with honor.

Here endeth my final years of working for the Postal Service.

My Health

12/13/2009 10:19:21 AM

OK …

This will be a boring report on my health.

I am suffering from a cold of some sort.

That can be corrected with proper medication.

What my main concern regarding my health is my balance problem.

I would fail a drug sobriety test and I don’t even drink.

If I were ordered to stand at attention in the military, I would fail.

So what’s one to do?

Guess I’ll find out Dec 22, 2009 at the Ear, Nose & Throat specialist.

At least they’ll tell me what is NOT my problem.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know .. OK?

Saturday, December 12, 2009

12/12/2009 4:57:34 AM

It’s time for my video report for the week. I’ve been doing this now for quite a few weeks. I have no idea if anyone watches these videos, and frankly, I don’t care.

It’s time for my cold to leave. This illness has gone on long enough. My main illness is my balance. If I were to stand at attention wearing a military uniform, I’d be singled out.

If I were to be asked to walk a straight line, I’d fail. I’m not even drunk!

There’s a good book for anyone to read “Christmas Sweater” by Glenn Beck.

The news this week is Climategate. What a hoax!

I’m a Palin supporter. I’m a dittohead, I’ve been Hannitized and I watch FOX news.

Does that make me a homophobe, sexist , racist, the left wing liberals name call us?

We have a new business card:

I see that the video is ready to be posted to

12/11/2009 7:04:54 AM

Yesterday I was sick. No fever, just feeling puny. Sally also has the sinus cold.. My voice is back, but there’s no singing voice yet. Sorry choir.

So what does one do all day when sick? .. NOTHING.

Spent all day deleting unnecessary emails and moving emails around to various folders.

Guess I’ll get busy. The second cup of coffee is waiting.

Next week I’m to see a specialist on why I’m dizzy all the time.

Merry Christmas .. (can I say that?)

Join us on the web if you’d like

12/5/2009 6:32:12 AM

Good Morning everyone …

Today I’d like to talk a little about religion. I said a little bit about my Lutheran faith and a blog reply I received this week. Visit our blog at and learn a little more about how I stand in relationship to my faith.

The web address to visit is:

The best way to reply to any of my blogs is to own a google account. This is the Internet technology I use. I heard on the news that our BO president had a meeting with the CEO of Google.

Did you know that my son John has GOOGLE on his Kansas license plate?
My hearse has HOLTREM on its antique plate. Can the DMV hear in Topeka do anything right? The plate is suppose to be “HOLTERM”

Now let me check on the video being downloaded and getting a 2nd cup of coffee.

12/5/2009 7:04:00 AM

The video is still uploading.

So, in 2005 I was dissatisfied with the OSLC (Our Saviors Lutheran Church) here in Topeka KS.

Our Pastor back then, was involved with the peace and justice movement and also speaking out about social injustice in our great city. I had NO PROBLEM with her expressing her opinion. My problem was she was wearing her clerical collar in public (like city hall & the Capitol building).

Pastor Susan was a speaker when WE, the voters of Kansas voted overwhelmingly that the institution of marriage is to between a man and a woman. Our beloved Pastor was a speaker wearing her clerical collar.

I decided right then and there that I was no longer part of the ELCA.

My membership and my tithing are now at Grace Lutheran, AFLC, Bruce SD

And that’s the way it is.

Yours truly in Christ,

Thanksgiving Preparations:
11/25/2009 7:03:49 AM

OK.. I confess!

I’m really not very excited about the upcoming holidays this year. I’ve been in a funk. Some seem to think I’m depressed. Dr. Davis wants to me to see an ear, eyes & nose specialist to correctly diagnose my headaches & dizziness

He gave me some happy medicine too. NO – I’m not crazy! The prescription has not been ordered.

Yesterday I had a bad spell. Sally is worried. I stayed away from any ladders.

I’m ready for Jesus anytime, but there’s a bucket list to work on

Thrashing Crew - 1950's ?? -

11/25/2009 6:34:08 AM

I received this photo from coz Wally via email just yesterday.

Here are the folks in the photo:

Back row (L-R):

Don Peterson
Morris Apland
Adolph Holter
Howard Geringer
Oscar Lenning ?
Al Apland
Jens Christensen ?

Front Row (L-R):

Darrell Christensen
Vernon Lenning ?
Norman Holter
Clifford Rasmussen ?
Ray Oines ?

This photo was probably taken by one of the wives of the trashing crew.
Just a guess. I’m thinking the photo was taken in the 1950’s ??

Anyone want to contribute?

I would have been just a little guy.

11/21/2009 7:55:51 AM

While the video is uploading, I thought I’d write about my week. This weekly video blog is what I do.

My therapy is my backyard. I’m working on re-roofing the city barn. Mark will eventually have this space as his guest room.

Again, doing things in my backyard give me pleasure.

Our 912 groups met last night at the Kansas Bar & Grill downtown. The speakers were about the smoking ordinance placed by our city council earlier this year. I am against it. Sally changed her mind also.

There was a speaker also about the fair tax. There are so many websites , so little time.

I will be content to remain on the states right committee. I’m on the brochure committee.

I see it’s 8:00 AM and time to get some knowledge. .. Red/Green is on.

11/14/2009 5:24 AM

The high light of my week this week is working on #1 & #2 on my bucket list. We met with the family counselor this week and our son has agreed to meet with us.

Our country is going in the wrong direction.

Now we have a fellow military terrorist who killed 13 of us fellow comrades. This major just happens to be a Muslim. UFF-DA !!!

As a follower of Jesus and an American, I’m saddened to hear these stories. And what does our current BO President do? .. He badmouths America? Double UFF-DA !!

Maybe I’m watching too much news. I guess I’ll continue on with my daily devotions and cling more closely to my bible. If I had a GUN, I’d cling closer to that too.

Sally & I both have diabetes. We’re learning what to do and what NOT to do for our disease. Sally took the same class I took a year ago.

Guess I’d better prick my finger and journalize my findings.

I wrote some thoughts about what happened to John when he was 21 years old. I will post this to my PRIVATE journal.

May God Bless all of you who reply to this blog.

WE, Sally & I will be DEBT FREE!!

Sally will write in the date on our financial bible and the video will be sent to Dave Ramsey of Financial Peace University.

I am a veteran. I see a bunch of FREE food signs throughout our community. Why eat at home? Later today I plan to check out all these places. Yes indeed, I am a veteran. My military career follows:

USAF regular – Sept. 1966-1970
USArmy Reserve – 1976-1980
USAF National Guard 1981-1993

I’m a twenty-year veteran with an honorable discharge. Thank you very much.

Last night we met with our new intentional interim pastor named Merle Brockhoff. Details on Sally is on the worship committee. Spouses were invited.

The city barn I built a while ago leaks. Lots of backyard works to do.

I miss seeing my son. Someday I might get to see our only grandchild too. Madeline was born April 11,2006. Sally gets to see her. I do not. Details can be found on our web.

Obama Care

The following url (web address) can be downloaded on your computer and printed out to pass out to your family, friends & relatives.

I am on the Topeka 912 brochure committee.

11/8/2009 5:52:35 AM

The Internet has many names attached to it. Some of the names are as follows:

The web
Information Technology
World wide web
Al Gore

OK .. I confess, I’m a blogger.

I guess I’ll continue on with OUR website … yes, that’s another name for the Internet.. website.

Yesterday I was able to drive to Shawnee KS for a pro Obama care rally. The Topeka 912 group asked us 912-ers to support Mary Pilcher Cook and be an anti-rally The emotions were running high on both sides. The rally was peaceful.

I brought my camera. Rather than carry a sign, I thought I’d mix with the pro Obama care folks. I wore my Rush Limbaugh t-shirt and took a bunch of pictures and some videos. I may or may not make a web page of my results.

The bill passed.

Emotions were running high.

I passed out my business card.

I would rather have been with Sally who is allowed to see our only grand child.

Guess I’ll get my second cup of coffee.

11/7/2009 7:43:28 AM

We, the people.

That’s what I’m going to title my video this week, WE, the people.

Our country is slowly being eroded inside out.

I talked a little bit about this terrorist who murdered my fellow soldiers. These young recruits were in preparation for going to war for our country and were murdered by a Muslim major in the army. UFF-da!

Our leader in the 912 group has decided to step down. We wish her well.

Our RELIV business is challenging to say the least. Every once in a while the folks on the web are curious. Direct level marketing is indeed a challenge.

The Internet is alive and well. I now have a facebook account too, along with many other social networking accounts.

My Microsoft account has expired. Should I buy another software program? I think not.

Heading for Shawnee KS in a little bit in support of a conservative legislature, Mary Pilcher Cook.

This week Sally & I are to meet with our family counselor. In time I may or may not be able to update #1 & #2 on my bucket list as posted on our web.

We are slowly but surely trying to get organized at home.

My 50-100 year plans keep growing.

I guess I’ll now post this to our web.

November Blog

11/2/2009 6:46:46 AM

I have decided to made a new folder once a month, just to keep myself organized.
Now if I could just get our house as organized as my laptop.

Sally and I now have another business card. The card says “Christian Conservative Blogger”. I have a stamp with the Reliv Independent Distributor information on the back.

I wish I were a chicken farmer sometimes. In watching the CBS 60 minutes segment, The chicken farmers are in big demand. The swine flu, or H1N1, has a shortage of the shot. I just heard that the prisoners get it first. What’s up with that?

My brother gave me back some RELIV cans. GREAT! We’ll consume this wonderful product ourselves.

My question to Kim “When will I get to see Madeline?”

I still need to work on my bucket list as posted on page one of our homepage.

We’re almost DEBT FREE !!!

That’s about it for today.

Fun & Family

EYEGLASSES: & Family Therapy
10/18/2009 5:44:55 AM

Yesterday while attending the renaissance festival at Bonner Springs KS I decided to put my glasses in my coat pocket.

I reached in my pocket to put them back on and could not focus on anything!

What happened was the left lens fell out. Fortunately I can still drive without my glasses, but BOY did my eyes perform a number on me!

So I get home and realize that I need a special SMALL screwdriver to replace the lens.

It’s important that I get the lens popped back in as I can’t do anything close up, like reading. I can type from memory though.

Our church is hosting a musical today also. I NEED to have these glasses!

Yesterday Sally & I also had family counseling. There is a little issue in our lives called problems. Maybe I’ll get to see my granddaughter someday.

I want to be able to cross off my hand-written bucket list.

Go to to follow my progress.

Sally and I had fun yesterday at the festival. She has been interviewed in her new dress.

It was cold. We had to take a break and warm up in the van. We’re getting’ older

10/17/2009 6:15:43 AM

Good Morning everyone:

While my video is being uploaded, I thought I’d write a few words.

- Great minds
- Average minds
- Simple minds

I wrote this down after listening to FOX/TV. I don’t know who said it on the news, but I wrote it down. I believe Eleanor Roosevelt said it, I could be wrong.

Let me start with the simple minds:

Simple-minded people talk about people. These simpletons are pinheads who are anonymous in my blog replies. If you want to see SOME of these replies, just visit and search for my name.

Simple-minded people are the folks who LIE about my radio friend Rush Limbaugh. I’m a ditto head.

Simple-minded people who come to my mind are folks who join various LIBERAL websites. Some of the more popular websites are like these sites do nothing but talk about people. They smear, besmirch, degrade, and belittle people, primarily Christian Conservative Bloggers like me.

Some of these pinheads that come to mind are names like, George Soros, Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid in our political world.

Average people talk about events. Most of us are average minded people. When we gather around each other, we mainly visit about our family and friends events in our lives. I’m no exception. I guess I’m just an average kind of guy.

My favorite thing to write about is great-minded people. My main great minded person would be my savior Jesus THE Christ. Jesus is helping me in all I do in life. I trust Jesus totally! So this average nerd is clinging to Jesus for help.

10/17/2009 7:36:12 AM
Later .. I just finished listening to the Bible. GREAT minds you know. I NEED to learn daily from the BIBLE. Learning from by hearing, and hearing comes from the word of GOD. I’m into day 20., 30 minutes/day.

Let me see how my video is doing and post to my blog.

I’ll write more later .. things to do.

10/3/2009 6:02:54 AM

Top of the morning to everyone!

My weekly video is being processed, so I thought I’d write a few thoughts in the meantime.

This last week has been something else!

Sally & I will be married 40 years tomorrow. I LOVE YOU HON!
I remember our wedding day like it was yesterday. It was a beautiful day. We got married in Omaha Nebraska at the Presbyterian Church of the Cross. This church was Sally’s brother, Cork, and then his lovely wife Pat. We had a reception at Cork’s home afterwards.
I’ll write more later about our wedding night. We did it!

I also joined the Topeka 912 project. This is a tea party group. We meet at an undisclosed location here in Topeka KS.
Later on today we’re starting to go public. We’re looking for some volunteers. We’ll be having a booth at the farmer’s market today. I volunteered to help, but they have enough help.

Guess I’ll check on my upload and post this to

Religion-Politics & Sex

9/30/2009 4:59:58 AM

That’s a loaded subject!

Let me start with RELIGION.

Last night Sally was invited to a farewell supper for our pastor. We met at the Thomas sisters’ home. Spouses are invited also.

Pastor Meggan’s last day as Pastor will be Oct 4th, 2009. Our church’s web address is

We will miss her and the family very much.

I asked her what she had plans for her future. She answered that her plate is empty. I guess that means no plans.

I made an observation that our last interim pastor just died. I’m sure there’s an opening for ELCA interim pastors. We laughed over my statement. It’s fun to be with friends.

While we’re speaking of religions, I am not an ELCA Lutheran. I’m an AFLC Lutheran. My membership and finances go to Grace Lutheran Bruce SD.

Long story.

But to make a long story short, I do not like the direction the ELCA is taking. The AFLC is more to my traditional upbringing. I still attend church at OSLC. I’m a hypocrite .. J

Guess that’s about it for today.

Post this to:

I’ll write about politics & sex at another time.

Charlie (1998-2009)

CHARLIE (1998-2009)
9/24/2009 5:53:17 AM

Charlie HoltREm ,(another story), our beloved pet, died yesterday in our backyard at 5112 ½ SW 33rd ST Topeka KS 66614

Charlie was born 3/1/98 somewhere. Gage Animal Hospital has our pet records for all our pets since 1974.

His friends, Myron, Sally Holter, survive Charlie. His best friend Mark Holter & our son, was able to pay a final visit the night before his demise.

Charlie wanted to die, he told me. I looked in his eyes and they were longing to see Jesus. When I petted our best friend, he would not wag his tail. We made him comfortable. I for one would like to see all my pets in heaven someday.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM today. All are welcome to pay their respects.

His neighbor, OREO, a male black lab, preceded Charlie in death.
Other pets in our married lives have been:

BUFFY – a FEMALE black lab – 2006 (Charlie’s playmate)
BUD – another dear friend of us (Charlie’s playmate)
LADDY – died in our garage (late 90’s)
ROVER – died in our back yard while we were on vacation (80’s etc)
SAM – was stolen from our car while on a trip to Bruce SD (70’s)
FRITZ – our 1st dog. (since 1969)

An email can be sent to to share your pet stories, pictures, videos, etc.

This blog will now be loaded to

RIP Charlie

Your best friend

Charlie (our pet)

9/23/2009 3:01:54 AM

Our beloved Charlie, our Lapa apso (sp?) , dog of many years is dying. I made a special trip to pick up our son ,Mark, to pay his final respects. We are saddened. Please note the time in this blog. Charlie wants to die. I grew up on a farm, and I know how animals behave on their last days. They, along with us humans, just want to be left alone on our last days. I would be the same. I looked for Charlie yesterday and he was in the garden next to our string beans. I will make a place for him in our garden. Just don’t tell our government. They’ll probably want to take that freedom to choose our pets burial also.

I got to thinking about ALL the pets in our lives.

My 1st pet was Tyke. I wrote about Tyke earlier. I was around 4 or 5 and Tyke and I were farm friends. We once went looking for turtle eggs together. Details on an earlier version in

We went through many pets back then, including cats. I remember a few stories back then. One of our pets was a black lab named Smokey. He was our hunting dog. I don’t hunt. But I would block the corn rows while my older brothers and our Minneapolis friends would hunt. Smokey was my responsibility to keep under leash until the birds were flushed. It was a dirty job but somebody had to do it.

Smokey was once left in the trunk of our car for days. I believe brother Dale forgot him in there from one of there many hunting expeditions. I was NOT responsible. Smokey was OK, just hungry and thirsty.

Our 1st dog in our marriage was Fritz. Fritz was a German Shepard. He lived with us in our little cracker box rental house in Omaha NE.
I had just become honorably discharged from the Air Force. We had Fritz for maybe a couple years. Once we took Fritz with us to Bruce SD. Herman and Lorraine fell in love with the dog and wanted Fritz. We gave them our pet, if I remember correctly.

These and other pets in my short life of 64 years have many fond memories.

I will check on Charlie later today.

I have become very attached to my pets. They’re family to me.

Bye bye Charlie .. see you in heaven (I hope)

Your faithful friend,

WeAkly-Weekly Video 9/18/9

videoMy weakly/weekly video this week is short and sweet. Brevity is the soul of wit you know. - Shakespeare? - Rest in Peace Alice Nabazes & Congratulations April Pinon.

Come on President Carter! Get back to grabbing a hammer and do something more worthwhile!

Yesterday, I dropped by the bowling alley to try to have a conversation with my estranged son. John is NOT bowling this year. Greg informed me that it’s his back. OH WELL
My goal is to be able to scratch off my bucket list. Details on

RIP Alice Nabazas also. I signed her guest book in also.
My brother Wes had his 2nd hip replaced. I heard that the medical folks placed him in ICU as apparently he had other issues, like his heart.
Welcome to our heart diseased world brother Wes. The four of us brothers have all had heart issues. I’ll have our church here in Topeka ADD Wesley Holter to our email prayer list too. Hang in there brother!

Ask me about too

Yes indeed, it’s Monday for all you workers. And thank you for working. Because of you, I am able to stay retired. How does that make you feel?

This last week for me has been quite eventful. I have written about my journey in my previous writings, so I’ll NOT go through that again. I look forward , not backward.

I ran into a reliv distributor while wandering around the state fair. We knew some common distributors, like the Blazics. I was not about to tell her my relationship with them or my immediate upline. BAD story. RELIV is a wonderful business. All one needs to know about RELIV is to ask. Ask me about RELIV.

Last Saturday was the “million mobster” march in DC. If it weren’t for my commitments here at home, I’d have loved to be a participant.

We sang a fun song yesterday at rally day at our church.

Labor Day

9/7/2009 5:17:26 AM

I’M TRYING TO REMEMBER. What did I do on Labor Day when I was growing up? I don’t recall! Labor Day was meant just that .. Labor.

We did our normal day’s routine. I don’t remember, but I think our culture back then treated Labor Day like just any other day.

So with that in mind, I’m going to treat today just like any other day for my retired schedule.

The only difference is Sally will be home with me all day.

WOW! Maybe she can help around the house.

Guess I’ll get my 2nd cup of coffee and post this somewhere on our web.

My Health

9/4/2009 5:03:45 AM

I’m OK

Yesterday I had my body checked over by

I recommend anyone who might be concerned about their health to take this test.

I’ll not know the results for three weeks. If there was something serious, like a stroke potential, I would have been told immediately. No one seemed to be alarmed.

Thanks everyone for your POSITIVE email replies. NO THANKS to you naysayers.

I will now post this to my blog.

The Lord's Prayer & laptop prayer

2 September 2009

Our Father, which art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom
And the power and the glory
Forever and ever

My laptop, which is in front of me
DELL is thy name

This computer will come
And is NOT dumb

On ones lap or anywhere

Give this ID-10-T (idiot) .. me, this day my daily good emails
And deliver me from spam.

For viruses, spams, etc. are BAD,
But the web on a whole is MORE than a FAD.

For the Internet is here to stay
Until our BO prez decides to send it away.

9/2/2009 4:48:32 AM

Being a volunteer is an AMERICAN thing to do.

I have just volunteered to work at a booth at the Kansas State Fair this year in Hutchinson KS.

The volunteer coordinator called me last night and I signed up, with Sally’s permission.

Currently, there’s a movement going on in our country called the Tea Party Express. These AMERICANS are all volunteers. These volunteers are going to end up in Washington DC protesting our BO administration.

Here is my message to our BO President:

These signs that the folks have made are not to be ignored.

Now if you’ll all excuse me, I’ve got some volunteering work to do.

WeAkly-Weekly Video 8/29/9

Saturday, August 29, 2009

Good Morning!

I am continuing my quest.

And what is my quest?

I don’t know, but whatever it is, I’m going to do it with zest.

OH YA.. My weAkly/Weekly video is due to be filmed.

What can I say this AM?

How about my week?

This week earlier started out with my health.

I was dizzy and headachy.

Now I’m watching the news and it appears that the funeral of Senator Ted Kennedy will be usurping my favorite financial news, Bulls and Bears.

I’m hoping that PBS will still have my favorite TV program, RED/GREEN on at 8AM.

Yesterday I attended another funeral, Janet Olson. Janet’s husband, Ray, died last Dec. They were members of our church for many years.

8/29/2009 7:48:18 AM

While I’m uploading my latest weakly weekly video, I thought I’d ADD a few more words.

The RED/GREEN TV program will be on in about 10 minutes or so. I want this to be finished by then.

Our world is turning upside down. BIG government is taking over our life. At least big government has not shut down our website. Maybe in time.

Now I hear on the news that the Internet will also be controlled. What’s that all about?

That’s like saying we’re no longer able to communicate with each other.

Talk about losing our freedom of speech!

How about the 1st Amendment to the constitution!

Please get out of our lives BIG government.

Re-read the constitution!

My Laptop

8/28/2009 5:36:28 AM

OK .. I confess, I’m an Internet writer, can’t help it. I probably have hundreds of email addresses in my inbox. If you want to be removed from my address book, please let me know. I will be happy to remove you. I could care less.

Then again,

8/28/2009 5:53:52 AM

Where was I?

My laptop went into one of those automatic modes and shut me down. I guess sometimes it’s a necessary evil.

I was writing about removing email addresses from my laptop. I guess I’ll need to spend some time deleting these addresses. You never know whose behind those unknowns. Most of the time, these addresses bounce.

I would love to meet these unknown email addresses in real person someday.

Guess I’ll get busy doing this computer function.

My Health (replies)

MY HEALTH (replies)

8/27/2009 9:22:10 PM

The other day I sent out a global email about my health and most everybody were concerned.

I thank you for the positive replies.

I would like especially thank my 1st cousin Martha for her email reply.

I will now attempt to copy/paste her email to my MS word program so you can ALL enjoy her email.

Here it is:

Oh Myron,

I am so sorry and am praying for you. I wish you would try our supplements because they really have made the difference in our compromised immune system and well being. Just maybe they would help you too? If you try them for about 5 months, save all the empty containers and receipts, you can get all your money back -up to 6 months out, if you are not satisfied. I know you have your own company and I am sure that they have good products too. Maybe the addition of our products would make yours and ours work together better than either could work separately, and just, well, I would love to see you better. I had a nice time with your mother this last weekend when I took the Hutch Aunties to Bruce and the Iverson wedding. You are such a dear son to Aunt CeCe and I especially remember how you teased us Billman cousins and gave us your attention when you were back on the farm for a visit and our family had returned from the mission field. I thought you were the most fun big cousin with the heartiest laugh, just like your Dad. I never could quite figure out all your humor, but supposed it had to do with my lack of understanding. I still don't have you figured out, but maybe that is part of what makes you so interesting! Anyway, I think you know that I appreciate you and want the best for you.

Your "little" cousin,

My cousin Martha is also into food supplements.

Sally & I are RELIV distributors and wish to remain so, thank you.

But her email made my brain scroll back to my childhood.

I guess I’m more like my father Adolph than any of my other brothers. Unfortunately, I’ve also inherited my father’s genes. DAD used to get dizzy too. Adolph died at the tender age of 69 ½. I’m 64 ¾. That means I’ve got 5 years to hurry up and get my bucket list crossed out. You can read my handwritten bucket list by calling up this web page.

Martha said I was a big tease back then. I guess I was.

I’ll write more about my childhood days later when I feel like it.

Guess I’ll post this to our web.

My Health

8/27/2009 5:11:05 AM

Life goes on, no matter what!

Yesterday I thought I was going to die!

My world was literally spinning around me. I was dizzy and I had a headache. So I had Sally call the life line screening people to set up an appointment for me.

Unfortunately, the bill will be $150.00 with no insurance helping out.

Today, I’m hoping I can pick our son , Mark, up and we can go somewhere for lunch.

Hopefully the city inspectors will approve our painting work.

Where’s my VA check?

Better get to work.

WeAkly-Weekly Video 8/22/9

WeAkly-Weekly Video:

8/22/2009 5:48:11 AM

Good Morning Everybody:

Wake Up America!

That’s my advice to anyone watching my weAKLY-WEEKLY video.

To all you left wing liberals, I feel for you.

My advice to you is to read good books, like Glenn Beck’s “Common Sense” and other conservative books out there.

I only watch FOX on TV. I watch our local news so I can know what’s going on in this world.

Jesus teaches us to be “in the world, but not of the world” So I need to be on top of our political world, and I for one do NOT approve!

I’m one of those MOBSTERS that the left wing liberals label us.

The good news is, Mark & I are working on our property. We were able to paint the city barn. We went through about 6 gallons of paint.

Until next week ..

My Health

8/17/2009 7:47:51 AM

It hurts to even open my computer to write!

I’m NOT in any mood to write right now.

8/18/2009 4:40:55 AM

OK .. I’m in a better mood today.

Yesterday was a wash.

I went golfing Sunday afternoon with the church bunch. Around the 5th hole at Topeka Public, I started getting tired. Steve R. offered me a ride. I had to hold on to my pull cart with my right hand. I felt my tendon being stretched, but I continued playing.

So yesterday I was in pain. Sally gave me some outdated analgesic cream to apply. It worked a little bit. I put some of those “magical” pads on my right shoulder.

So, we need to let Mother Nature take its course with the human body. I couldn’t even write to my blog!

So I’m hoping today will be a better day.

Remember, you have a Drs. Appointment at 9:30 AM today.

Let’s get to work also.

WeAkly-Weekly Video 8/15/9

8/15/2009 6:03:50 AM

Good Morning Everyone.

NO …

If you’re on my email list, I will be very happy to remove you from my address book.

Unlike our White House who keeps a master list of email addresses, I could care less if you’re on this list or not.

If you’re on my email address book and want to be removed, send me an email and I’ll remove you.

The White House NEEDS to hire a “tecky” .. LIKE ME!

Anyway, my weAkly-Weekly is being processed.

29th & Fairlawn Topeka KS

29th & Fairlawn:

8/14/2009 5:00:51 AM

OK .. Let me write a little bit about yesterday.

Yesterday we had a public meeting @ French Junior High regarding the intersection of 29th ST & Fairlawn.

I live at 5112 SW 33rd ST in what is commonly referred to as the old farm addition.

Sally & I first moved into our present location in Nov. 1973, some 35 + years ago.

When we first moved her, our street was the last street as listed on a city map. Our children used to play in the fields south of us. There was a farm house where soutbrook apartments are now located. Sally & I are currently the oldest residing home owners on our block. The Springs across the street moved to a retirement community a few years ago.

Our children, John & Mark, don’t know of any other place growing up.

So I needed to go to this public meeting to see what the plans are for this intersection.

Here were my thoughts from earlier suggestions:

1) Elevation Parkway (too expensive)
2) Round a bout (public wouldn’t like it)
3) Another stop light off of I-470 (My suggestion)
4) Do Nothing (not feasible)

To see more details, go to

and learn more.

8/14/2009 4:10:07 AM

Good Morning.

Well, I’m not a sleeping giant, just another mobster that my radio hero, SEAN HANNITY , likes to refer me as. Sean is asking everyone who calls to now have a nickname.

How about my nickname being “My the MOBSTER”

“My” is what my father-in-law nicknamed me years ago. I liked it. So “MY THE MOBSTER” will be my nickname from here on.

I read a few days ago a writer for our local paper, wrote about these anonymous bloggers posting their hate posts. She called then cowards. I couldn’t agree more! I’ll have to email her for her very good column.

Last week, if you’ll refer back to my previous videos, I came out of my bunker wishing to remain anonymously. I wish to remain anonymous. My handle is now “MY THE MOBSTER”

My real name is Myron Holter

Take that all you cowards!

My Faith

8/11/2009 4:56:41 AM

Amazing grace will lead me home.

I love that song.

I also love all those Christian songs, like Onward Christian Soldiers, etc.

Our church here in Topeka KS, WWW.OSLCTOPEKA.ORG does not sing that song.

In fact, I don’t know if any of the ELCA in the Lutheran faith sings that song anymore.

I want that song sung at my funeral, just for spite.

Today, I’m going to meet up with my good friend Paul D. and we’re going to a town hall meeting in Tongonaxie KS to hear our state Senator Sam Brownback.

Will I need to bring a gun?

Hopefully the meeting will be peaceful. I’ll snap a few pictures if I remember to bring my camera.

It’s scary out there.

I’ve been watching FOX news and the liberals are going ballistic.

Guess I’ll post this to our web.

Monday, August 10, 2009

It's Monday

8/10/2009 5:10:29 AM

Yes indeed, it’s Monday and my laptop needed to be rebooted.

Our political world is turning UGLY!

Healthcare is a big issue out there.

Sally & I are under the Federal Blue Cross Blue Shield Program and also under the military Tri-Care West Insurance program.

So if you were to ask us, we like our insurance just like it is.

If I were to be in a town hall meeting healthcare gathering, I’d be just listening.

Our Politicians are mainly of my philosophical beliefs. I guess I’m the silent majority.

Now I hear on FOX TV news that they’re canceling town hall meetings.

What’s up with that?

We lost electricity last night for about 40 minutes.

We thought that it would be a long time before we got the juice back. I am so thankful to have the juice back so quick. Sally and I actually had to have a voice conservation without TV, Radio, computers, etc. Imagine that !!

There are shouting matches throughout our country. I don’t hear on the news any local shouting matches here.

I got an email saying that Sen. Sam Brownback will be at Tonganaxie KS this Tues. I might show up. First I need to find out where this town is located.

Better get busy.

Mission Statement

8/9/2009 5:56:40 AM

Our mission statement has remained the same since Nov 2002.

“Sally & I would like to share our FAITH on the web with ALL. We share the same FAITH as Billy Graham.”

Given that, now the Internet comes into existence.

I often wonder what would Jesus do if HE had a computer?

Yesterday I had Sally video me for another interview.

Our country is going down the tubes, and I do NOT approve.

The title of ‘MY MOB INTERVIEW” explains it all. >

I plan to post this to my blog.

This last week I’ve spent most of my time right here in the confines of our home.

We have too much clutter!

See you all next week for another version of my video blog as posted on our web.

Just before the funeral services, the undertaker came up to the very
elderly widow and asked,
'How old was your husband?' '98,' she replied...
'Two years older than me'
'So you're 96,' the undertaker commented..
She responded, 'Hardly worth going home, is it?

Reporters interviewing a 104-year-old woman:
'And what do you think is the best thing
about being 104?' the reporter asked.
She simply replied, 'No peer pressure.'

The nice thing about being senile is
you can hide your own Easter eggs.

I've sure gotten old!
I've had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement,
new knees, fought prostate cancer and diabetes.
I'm half blind,
can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine,
take 40 different medications that
make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts.
Have bouts with dementia.
Have poor circulation;
hardly feel my hands and feet anymore.
Can't remember if I'm 85 or 92.
Have lost all my friends. But, thank God,
I still have my driver's license.

I feel like my body has gotten totally out of shape,
so I got my doctor's permission to
join a fitness club and start exercising.
I decided to take an aerobics class for seniors.
I bent, twisted, gyrated, jumped up and down, and perspired for an hour. But,
by the time I got my leotards on,
the class was over.

An elderly woman decided to prepare her will and
told her preacher she had two final requests.
First, she wanted to be cremated, and second,
she wanted her ashes scattered over Wal-Mart.
'Wal-Mart?' the preacher exclaimed.
'Why Wal-Mart?'
'Then I'll be sure my daughters visit me twice a week'

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.
Also, my memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

Know how to prevent sagging?
Just eat till the wrinkles fill out.

It's scary when you start making the same noises
as your coffee maker.

These days about half the stuff
in my shopping cart says,
'For fast relief.'

Grant me the senility to forget the people
I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and
the eyesight to tell the difference.

Now, I think you're supposed to share this with 5 or 6, maybe 10
others. Oh heck, give it to a bunch of your friends if you can
remember who they are!

Always Remember This:
You don't stop laughing because you grow old,
You grow old because you stop laughing
